The CinePearl Take
Léa Seydoux (as the mermaid Lula) delivers a luminous performance, conveying wonder and melancholy with barely a word spoken. Malzieu’s pacing drifts like the tide—slow enough to soak in the atmosphere, yet occasionally lurches when the narrative tries to juggle romance and social commentary. The film’s central theme—searching for belonging in a world that feels both intimate and alien—resonates long after the credits roll, even if the plot occasionally feels meandering.
