Why Watch This

“Airplane Mode” is a tongue‑in‑cheek look at our obsession with smartphones, turning a simple tech glitch into a series of laugh‑out‑loud set‑pieces. Its premise—forcing a hyper‑connected protagonist to live offline for a day—offers plenty of relatable, modern humor.

The CinePearl Take

César Rodrigues directs with a breezy rhythm that keeps the jokes landing without feeling forced. The lead—though unnamed in credits—delivers a surprisingly nuanced performance, balancing slapstick mishaps with moments of genuine self‑reflection. The film’s pacing mirrors the frantic buzz of a phone notification, then deliberately slows when the protagonist finally disconnects, underscoring its theme of digital detox. While the humor is broad, the underlying commentary on modern connectivity feels surprisingly fresh.
