The CinePearl Take

María Valverde delivers a quietly ferocious performance as Elena, the garden’s aging caretaker, grounding the narrative with a blend of stubbornness and tenderness. Requejo’s pacing is deliberate, letting the simmering conflict unfold through lingering shots of the sea and the overgrown plot, which mirrors the characters’ inner turbulence. The film’s strongest asset is its thematic balance—while it critiques unchecked development, it also celebrates community resilience and inter‑generational solidarity.
