Why Watch This
And Their Children After Them captures the restless energy of a generation on the brink of adulthood, blending raw street realism with lyrical moments of introspection. Its modest budget forces the directors to rely on natural lighting and improvised dialogue, creating an intimate portrait that feels both personal and universal.
Best For
Coming‑of‑age fans, French cinema lovers, Indie film enthusiasts, Festival goers, Youth drama fans
The CinePearl Take
The Boukherma brothers coax an almost documentary‑like authenticity from their non‑professional cast, letting the narrative breathe through everyday moments rather than plot contrivances. The pacing is deliberately uneven, mirroring the uncertainty of its protagonists, and the film’s visual palette—muted pastels and gritty urban tones—reinforces the tension between hope and disillusionment. While the story never fully resolves, its thematic focus on intergenerational expectations feels resonant and timely.
