Why Watch This

Arab Blues offers a razor‑sharp look at post‑revolution Tunisia through the eyes of an idealistic economist battling red‑tape, corruption, and his own cultural dislocation. Its blend of deadpan humor and heartfelt moments makes the political satire feel intimately human.

The CinePearl Take

Manele Labidi’s direction balances brisk pacing with lingering, contemplative scenes that let the audience feel the weight of bureaucratic inertia. Bilel Slatnia (Youssef) delivers a nuanced performance, capturing both the naive optimism of a returnee and the weary resignation of someone who’s seen the system grind down. The film’s humor lands best when it exposes the absurdities of everyday office politics, while its quieter moments underscore a deeper longing for genuine reform.
