The CinePearl Take
Yamada’s direction keeps the tension taut, employing long takes and a muted palette that mirror the protagonist’s disorientation. The unnamed lead delivers a hauntingly restrained performance, grounding the film’s existential questions. Though the middle act lags slightly, the final act’s twist recontextualizes everything, rewarding patient viewers.
