The CinePearl Take
The lead performance—anchored by a gritty, unflinching portrayal of a mother fighting to keep her son alive—carries the film’s emotional weight. Director Kim Jae‑ho’s pacing is relentless, never allowing a moment’s respite as water rises and secrets surface. Thematically, “Bait” interrogates how far ordinary people will go when survival becomes a zero‑sum game, making the climax both shocking and oddly cathartic.
