The CinePearl Take

Director Amelia Hartley balances the sparkle of Wood’s on‑stage persona with the quiet struggles she faced off‑camera, resulting in a pacing that feels like a well‑timed sketch—tight, punchy, then lingering for emotional beats. The most striking performance comes from Wood’s own voice, lifted from audio diaries that reveal her vulnerability and relentless drive. Themes of creative authenticity and the cost of breaking barriers resonate long after the credits roll.
