The CinePearl Take
Legrand’s direction shines brightest in the pacing; the narrative unfolds lazily enough to let jokes land, yet brisk enough to keep the stakes palpable. The lead performance—anchored by a subtle, earnest portrayal of the well‑meaning mayor—grounds the absurdity in genuine pathos. Supporting turns, especially from the quirky local shopkeeper, add layers of comic realism that elevate the film beyond a simple feel‑good romp.
