The CinePearl Take
Kitano’s direction is as precise as it is poetic; the film’s lingering long shots let the city’s neon gloom become a character in its own right. The lead—an unnamed veteran actor—delivers a quietly ferocious performance, embodying a man whose rage is both self‑destructive and oddly redemptive. While the narrative drifts at times, the thematic focus on the fragility of honor keeps the story anchored, making “Broken Rage” a compelling, if uneven, addition to Kitano’s later oeuvre.
