The CinePearl Take

Madhur Bhandarkar’s trademark realism shines in “Calendar Girls,” where the narrative never shies away from the harsh realities of the runway. Kyra Dutt delivers a surprisingly nuanced performance, capturing both the naiveté and the hardened resolve of a newcomer. The film’s deliberate pacing allows the audience to feel the mounting pressure, while its visual style mirrors the glossy yet deceptive world it critiques. Though the script occasionally leans on melodrama, the thematic core about empowerment versus exploitation remains compelling.
