Why Watch This
Canelones blends razor‑sharp satire with absurdist set‑pieces, turning everyday bureaucratic nonsense into a grotesque playground. Its dead‑pan humor and unapologetically bleak outlook make it a daring entry in the black‑comedy canon.
Best For
Black comedy fans, Satire lovers, Indie film enthusiasts, Festival goers, Dark humor addicts
The CinePearl Take
Directors Christian Basilis and Ana Laura Gussoni craft a tightly wound narrative that never lets the absurdity breathe, keeping the tension high even as the jokes get increasingly macabre. The film’s pacing is relentless, pushing characters from one twisted scenario to the next without a moment’s reprieve. While the cast remains a mystery, the ensemble delivers uniformly committed performances that amplify the film’s unsettling charm. At its core, Canelones is a commentary on how institutional indifference can become a comedy of errors—if you can stomach the darkness.
