Why Watch This
Cheeni Kum blends a quirky culinary backdrop with an unconventional romance that defies age norms. R. Balki’s witty script and the chemistry between Amitabh Bachchan’s stoic chef and Tabu’s free‑spirited writer make for a delightfully off‑beat love story.
Best For
Romantic comedy fans, Foodies, Amitabh Bachchan admirers, Mature love‑story seekers, Light‑hearted drama lovers
The CinePearl Take
Amitabh Bachchan delivers a surprisingly tender performance as the curmudgeonly chef Omar, whose deadpan delivery is softened by moments of genuine vulnerability. Tabu shines as the witty, independent Nina, matching his sarcasm with sharp humor. The film’s leisurely pacing lets the kitchen setting become a character in its own right, while the central theme—love that transcends societal expectations—remains both heartfelt and humorously explored.
