Why Watch This

Émile Gaudreault returns with a turbo‑charged sequel that pushes the original’s “never‑stop‑lying” premise into absurd, yet surprisingly heartfelt territory. The film mines fresh cultural jokes from Quebec’s love‑hate relationship with politeness, delivering laugh‑out‑loud set‑pieces that feel both familiar and wildly inventive.

The CinePearl Take

While the script occasionally stumbles under the weight of its own jokes, Gaudreault’s direction keeps the tempo brisk enough to mask most missteps. The surprise breakout is newcomer Sophie Tremblay, whose dead‑pan delivery as the protagonist’s ex‑girlfriend steals every scene she’s in. Beneath the slapstick, the film slyly probes how far we’ll go to protect our own narratives, making the chaos oddly relatable.
