D Block is a low‑budget thriller that leans into claustrophobic tension, delivering a gritty look at prison life through a single‑room setting. Director Vijay Kumar Rajendran crafts a relentless, one‑take feel that keeps the audience on edge.
Best For
Thriller fans, Indie film lovers, Prison drama enthusiasts, Fans of minimalist storytelling, Late‑night binge watchers
The CinePearl Take
Rajendran’s direction is the film’s strongest asset, using tight framing and a muted colour palette to amplify the sense of confinement. The unnamed ensemble delivers raw, almost documentary‑style performances that feel authentic despite the script’s sparse dialogue. While the pacing occasionally stalls, the final act’s sudden escalation rewards patience, making D Block a modest but memorable entry in the prison‑genre canon.
