The CinePearl Take
Yui Natsukawa (as the eldest sister) anchors the narrative with a performance that balances stoic responsibility and suppressed grief, delivering some of the film’s most affecting moments. Tsuda’s deliberate pacing may test impatient viewers, but it rewards those who savor the slow unraveling of memory and resentment. The recurring motif of empty rooms and lingering sunlight underscores the theme that the past is both a shelter and a cage.
