The CinePearl Take
Director Lee Joon‑ik (not to be confused with the period‑drama auteur) delivers a bleak, almost expressionist portrait of urban alienation, and his use of handheld cameras gives the chase scenes a visceral immediacy. Lead actor Park Hae‑shin is chillingly effective as the detective, his stoic demeanor cracking just enough to reveal a haunted past. Meanwhile, the killer’s unsettling charisma, embodied by newcomer Kim Min‑seok, makes every encounter feel like a twisted game of psychological chess.
