Why Watch This
Raj Khosla’s 1980 drama “Dostana” pairs Amitabh Bachchan’s magnetic screen presence with Shatrughan Sinha’s swagger, delivering a high‑octane mix of friendship, romance, and underworld intrigue that feels both nostalgic and surprisingly fresh.
Best For
Amitabh fans, 80s Bollywood lovers, Drama enthusiasts, Crime thriller fans, Nostalgia seekers
The CinePearl Take
Bachchan’s portrayal of the upright yet conflicted inspector Vijay is the film’s emotional anchor, while Sinha’s charismatic anti‑hero adds a roguish spark that keeps the narrative lively. Khosla’s direction balances slick action set‑pieces with moments of genuine sentiment, though the pacing drifts in the second half. The supporting turn by Helen, as the sultry cabaret dancer, injects a classic Bollywood glamour that elevates the melodrama.
