Why Watch This

"Feathers" blends absurdist comedy with speculative drama, exploring how a small Egyptian village confronts a mysterious flock of luminous birds that seem to rewrite reality. Its off‑beat humor and poignant social commentary make it a fresh, thought‑provoking experience.

The CinePearl Take

Omar El Zohairy’s debut balances deadpan humor with a haunting sense of unease, using the birds as a metaphor for collective hope and repression. The lead—played by an unknown local performer—delivers a surprisingly nuanced, understated performance that anchors the film’s surreal moments. Pacing drifts deliberately, allowing the audience to linger in the village’s liminal space, though at times the narrative feels intentionally vague. The film’s strongest theme is the tension between tradition and the unknown, rendered with visual flair.
