Why Watch This
Fernando Eimbcke turns a mundane summer swelter into a wry meditation on annoyance and family dynamics, using a house overrun by flies as a comic‑drama catalyst. The film’s dead‑pan humor and visual minimalism make everyday irritations feel oddly profound.

The CinePearl Take
Eimbcke’s restrained direction lets the chaos of buzzing insects mirror the characters’ internal stagnation, and the young daughter’s dead‑pan performance anchors the absurdity with genuine heart. The deliberate, almost static pacing forces viewers to sit with the irritation, turning a simple nuisance into a larger commentary on complacency. While the narrative never fully resolves, the lingering sense of unease feels intentional and rewarding.
