The CinePearl Take
Burger’s direction is deliberately patient, letting the protagonist’s quiet gestures speak louder than dialogue. The breakout performance by a fresh face captures the tension between vulnerability and defiant self‑assertion with nuanced subtlety. The film’s measured pacing mirrors the slow unspooling of identity, while its muted palette reinforces a feeling of alienation. Ultimately, it proves that love can be both a refuge and a foreign tongue.
