The CinePearl Take
Naitō’s patient pacing may test impatient viewers, but it rewards those who linger for the film’s emotional undercurrents. The breakout performance by child actor Haru Kudo captures both resilience and fragile hope, anchoring the narrative’s meditation on forgiveness. Visually, the muted palette mirrors the characters’ muted futures, while the occasional burst of color underscores moments of fleeting redemption.
