The CinePearl Take

Gitai’s patient pacing lets the ruins breathe, while a recurring voice‑over by renowned Israeli poet Yehuda Amichai adds lyrical weight. The standout moment is the interview with archaeologist Dr. Lucia Bianchi, whose reflections on the “living stone” of Pompeii anchor the film’s philosophical wanderings. Visually, the contrast between the ash‑gray excavations and the vibrant, digitally‑rendered Golem sequences creates a haunting, almost tactile texture that lingers long after the credits roll.
