The CinePearl Take
Mona Kabbaj delivers a nuanced, almost wordless performance that anchors the film’s emotional core, letting the audience feel Hala’s internal conflict without exposition. Kordofani’s restrained direction lets the dusty Khartoum streets become a character in their own right, underscoring the film’s themes of displacement. While the pacing is deliberately measured, it rewards patience with moments of startling visual poetry that linger long after the credits roll.
