The CinePearl Take
Gil’s debut shines most in the breakout performance of the town’s fire chief, whose stoic exterior cracks in moments of quiet confession. The film’s deliberate, almost breath‑by‑breath pacing lets tension simmer, mirroring the slow, ember‑like healing of the community. Themes of collective guilt and the fragile ties that bind are explored with a tenderness that feels both personal and political.
