The CinePearl Take
Von Boehm’s pacing is deliberate, allowing each still image to breathe before the next revelation, which mirrors Newton’s own theatrical flair. The documentary shines when it lets Newton’s own voice—through archival interviews—speak, exposing his unapologetic confidence and occasional vulnerability. While the film occasionally drifts into reverential territory, its visual richness and nuanced exploration of fame versus private life make it a compelling portrait of a true icon.
