The CinePearl Take
“His ()” is a quietly powerful study of desire and isolation, anchored by a subtly nuanced lead performance that never resorts to melodrama. Imaizumi’s camera lingers on everyday textures—rain‑slicked streets, cramped office cubicles—to amplify the character’s internal void. While the narrative unfolds at a snail’s pace, each frame feels meticulously composed, making the film feel more like a visual poem than a conventional story. The thematic focus on unspoken longing may not satisfy viewers craving overt resolution, but it offers a rewarding meditation on what it means to be seen.
