Why Watch This

Libia Stella Gómez delivers a pulse‑pounding portrait of Bogotá’s shadow economy, where a lone journalist’s obsession with a mysterious trafficking ring called “the Souls” spirals into a deadly game of cat‑and‑mouse. The film’s relentless tension is amplified by its raw, on‑location cinematography that makes the city itself feel like a character.

Best For

Thriller fans, Latin American cinema lovers, Social‑justice watchers, Fans of gritty realism, Women‑directed film enthusiasts

The CinePearl Take

Gómez’s direction is a masterclass in controlled suspense, letting each clue drip in slow motion before the next explosive reveal. María Fernanda López (as the determined journalist) anchors the chaos with a steely, nuanced performance that never feels melodramatic. The film’s pacing—tight in the chase scenes, deliberately languid in the investigative moments—mirrors the protagonist’s psychological descent, making the climax feel both inevitable and shocking.
