The CinePearl Take

Macon Blair’s direction injects a raw, DIY energy that feels both spontaneous and tightly controlled, letting the chaos serve the story rather than overwhelm it. Though the cast is largely unknown, the lead—an unseasoned actor named Jonah Reed—steals scenes with a perfect blend of cluelessness and earnest charm. The film’s brisk pacing keeps the jokes landing at a rapid clip, while a surprisingly tender undercurrent about friendship grounds the mayhem. While the humor can be hit‑or‑miss, the film’s willingness to embrace its own idiocy is ultimately its greatest strength.
