The CinePearl Take

Stefan Westerwelle’s direction is surprisingly assured for a debut, letting the music drive the narrative rather than the usual exposition-heavy script. Maya Liu, fresh from a dance academy, shines with a raw, magnetic performance that anchors the film’s emotional core. The pacing leans into the rhythmic beats, allowing quiet moments to breathe before erupting into kinetic dance sequences that feel both improvised and meticulously edited. At its heart, the film explores the tension between personal ambition and youthful love, a theme that resonates long after the final song fades.
