The CinePearl Take
Forest Whitaker brings unexpected depth to the eccentric toymaker, grounding the film’s whimsical excess with genuine pathos. The musical numbers are catchy and choreographed with a kinetic energy that propels the story forward, though the middle act drags slightly under the weight of its own ambition. Visually, the steampunk set‑pieces and practical effects sparkle, reinforcing the film’s central theme that imagination can rebuild even the most broken hearts.
