The CinePearl Take
Chiwetel Ejiofor anchors the film with a quietly powerful performance, grounding the outlandish premise in genuine emotion. Jemima Rooper’s turn as the flamboyant drag queen Lola is a scene‑stealer, delivering both sparkle and vulnerability. The pacing shifts smoothly between slapstick set‑pieces and more reflective moments, allowing the theme of embracing difference to resonate without feeling preachy.
