The CinePearl Take
Thorsten Klein’s direction is restrained yet emotionally resonant, allowing the story to unfold like a series of intimate sketches rather than a grand sweep. Anna Richter, in her breakout role as Leonora, delivers a hauntingly nuanced performance, conveying the artist’s fierce determination through subtle glances and lingering silences. The pacing mirrors the deliberate brushstrokes of Leonora’s work—slow at times, but always purposeful—while the film’s recurring motif of morning light becomes a powerful metaphor for hope amid adversity.
