The CinePearl Take
Stein’s direction leans into the atmospheric streets of Lisbon, letting the city itself become a character in the story. Austin Trevor delivers a surprisingly nuanced turn as the slick, morally ambiguous nightclub owner, while Walter Rilla provides comic relief that lightens the tension. The pacing is deliberately languid, allowing each song to breathe and deepen the film’s bittersweet mood.
