The CinePearl Take
Aïnouz’s direction is as restrained as it is poetic, allowing the motel’s cracked walls to echo the characters’ inner fractures. The unnamed lead, a newcomer to the screen, delivers a hauntingly vulnerable performance that anchors the film’s emotional core. While the pacing is deliberately languid, each pause deepens the sense of longing, making the eventual moments of intimacy all the more resonant.
