Why Watch This

Yvan Attal’s “My Dog Stupid” blends dry French wit with a surprisingly tender look at a man’s mid‑life crisis, all sparked by the sudden disappearance of his beloved mutt. The film’s off‑beat humor and relatable family dynamics make it a charming slice‑of‑life comedy that feels both personal and universally funny.

Best For

French comedy fans, pet lovers, Yvan Attal admirers, romantic‑dramedy seekers, indie film enthusiasts, weekend binge‑watchers

The CinePearl Take

Attal’s direction keeps the narrative breezy, letting the absurdity of a runaway dog drive genuine moments of introspection. Charlotte Gainsbourg’s cameo adds a sly, magnetic energy that elevates the otherwise modest ensemble. The pacing is deliberately unhurried, allowing jokes to land while the film gently explores themes of responsibility, love, and the chaos of adult life.
