Why Watch This

“Neighbours” turns the mundane world of apartment living into a surreal sci‑fi puzzle, where everyday conversations hide portals to parallel realities. Its low‑budget visuals and unsettling sound design make the familiar feel eerily alien, offering a fresh spin on the genre.

The CinePearl Take

Vinay Gholap’s direction shines through in the film’s claustrophobic framing, making a cramped hallway feel like a gateway to the unknown. The lead—an unnamed tenant—delivers a surprisingly nuanced performance, conveying mounting dread with a single look. Pacing is deliberately slow, echoing the protagonist’s gradual realization that the world next door is not what it seems, though the minimalist script sometimes leaves plot threads dangling. The central theme of isolation versus connection resonates long after the credits roll.
