The CinePearl Take

Philippe Lacôte crafts a pulse‑pounding atmosphere where every whispered tale feels like a lifeline. Koné Bakary’s magnetic performance as the reluctant narrator anchors the film, while the ensemble’s improvised chants create an almost musical pacing that never lets the tension drop. Thematically, the movie explores how power is wielded through stories, making the prison walls feel both literal and symbolic.
