The CinePearl Take

Once Upon a Time in America is a 1980s English film that blends historical drama, crime drama and flashback — expect a morally tangled criminal underworld and the rise and fall of criminal empires. Sergio Leone directs and the script comes from Enrico Medioli. Made in France, it is a natural pick for anyone exploring English-language films. Released in 1984, it has had time to build an audience and word of mouth. At 227 minutes, it is an epic-length sit-down rather than a quick watch.
