The CinePearl Take
Director Li Wei balances chaotic set‑pieces with intimate moments, letting the absurdity of battle serve a larger humanist message. A standout performance comes from newcomer Zhou Yan, whose dead‑pan delivery anchors the film’s most ridiculous scenes. The pacing swings between manic chase sequences and quiet, reflective interludes, keeping the tone unpredictable yet cohesive. Ultimately, the film succeeds in making you laugh while quietly reminding you of the cost of war.
