Why Watch This
“Pookie” blends slap‑slap comedy with a heartfelt look at small‑town aspirations, anchored by Ajay Dhishan’s magnetic turn as the well‑meaning but hapless protagonist. The film’s vivid Tamil‑Malayalam mash‑up soundtrack and Sunil’s razor‑sharp comic timing make it a lively ride from start to finish.

The CinePearl Take
Ganesh Chandra’s debut showcases a confident sense of rhythm, letting the narrative breathe while never losing its comedic punch. Ajay Dhishan delivers his most nuanced performance yet, capturing the earnest desperation of a man chasing a dream that keeps slipping away. Sunil’s cameo provides the film’s most memorable set‑pieces, and the recurring motif of “the lost toy” cleverly underscores the theme of reclaiming lost innocence. Though the second act drags slightly, the finale’s emotional payoff feels earned.
