Why Watch This
It’s a tongue‑in‑cheek homage to early‑2000s arcade culture, blending over‑the‑top martial‑arts choreography with classic video‑game tropes. The film’s self‑aware humor and nostalgic nods make it a cult delight for gamers who love a good parody.
Best For
Retro gamers, Martial arts fans, Parody lovers, 2000s nostalgia seekers, Indie film enthusiasts
The CinePearl Take
Ed Glaser leans heavily into absurdity, but the chemistry between Daniel and Carlos Pesina—real‑life martial‑arts legends from the original Mortal Kombat arcade—grounds the chaos with genuine fight choreography. Peter Davis delivers a deadpan hero that amplifies the satire, while the pacing wavers between frantic set‑pieces and lazy dialogue, making the film feel like a stretched cheat code. The central theme lampoons the commercialization of gaming, though it often loses steam in its own jokes.
