Why Watch This

Rising High delivers a surprisingly warm mix of drama and comedy, tracking a struggling stand‑up comic’s desperate climb from a cramped Anatolian town to the bright lights of Istanbul’s club scene. Director Cüneyt Kaya infuses the narrative with authentic, slice‑of‑life moments that feel both relatable and oddly poetic.

The CinePearl Take

Kaya’s debut shines most in its lead—an unpolished newcomer whose nervous energy turns into a magnetic, earnest performance that anchors the film’s tonal swings. The pacing is deliberately uneven, mirroring the protagonist’s erratic rise, which keeps the audience on edge without ever feeling rushed. Underneath the jokes lies a tender meditation on ambition, family expectations, and the cost of chasing fame, making the film feel more substantial than its modest budget suggests.
