The CinePearl Take

Petra Höfer and Freddie Röckenhaus craft a visual poem rather than a conventional narrative, letting each frame linger long enough to absorb the scale and texture of Russia’s terrain. The pacing is deliberately unhurried, which may feel meditative to some but rewards patience with moments of breathtaking clarity. The absence of a voice‑over lets the natural sounds and the subtle score become the film’s quiet narrator, highlighting the country’s stark beauty and hidden histories.
