The CinePearl Take

Elisabeth Volkmann’s deadpan turn as the sardonic Sister Maria anchors the absurdist script, delivering the film’s most memorable moments. Director Eberhard Schröder drifts between reverent chapel tableaux and sudden bursts of slap‑stick, mirroring the clash of piety and provocation. Though the production values are modest, the movie’s willingness to lampoon religious taboos gives it a mischievous charm that outlives its dated aesthetics.
