The CinePearl Take
Gitai’s direction is deliberate, letting the landscape of the kibbutz breathe as a character in its own right. The standout performance comes from the unnamed elder caretaker, whose quiet resignation anchors the film’s emotional core. While the pacing can feel languid, it mirrors the slow erosion of communal ideals, making the climax all the more resonant.
