Why Watch This

Hong Sung‑eun’s “Some Like It Cold” delivers a razor‑sharp satire of modern Seoul’s cut‑throat corporate culture, wrapped in a chilly thriller that keeps you guessing until the final frame. Its striking visual palette—snow‑slick streets contrasted with neon‑lit boardrooms—makes the film a sensory treat as much as a narrative one.

Best For

Dark comedy fans, Korean cinema enthusiasts, Thriller lovers, Indie film buffs, Satire seekers

The CinePearl Take

Hong Sung‑eun proves herself a master of tension, using long, breath‑holding takes to amplify the protagonist’s spiraling paranoia. The ensemble, though uncredited, offers a gritty, grounded performance that anchors the film’s more absurd moments. The pacing is deliberately uneven—slow, icy interludes give way to sudden bursts of violence—mirroring the unpredictable climate of the story’s corporate underworld. Ultimately, the film’s theme of “cold ambition” feels both timely and timeless.
