The CinePearl Take
Arafath’s direction is patient yet purposeful, allowing scenes to breathe while quietly building emotional stakes. The film’s pacing may feel deliberate, but it rewards viewers who appreciate character‑driven narratives over plot fireworks. The thematic focus on community ties and personal aspiration feels both specific to Kerala and universally resonant, making Thankam a modest but memorable entry in the Indian indie scene.
