The CinePearl Take
The film’s pacing is deliberately sluggish, mirroring the protagonist’s sense of entrapment, but it never feels dull thanks to crisp dialogue and a standout turn by newcomer Lukas Weber as the weary clerk. Director Anja Schmidt uses stark, muted visuals to underscore the bleakness of the corporate world while slipping in moments of absurdist humor. At its heart, the movie is a meditation on how gratitude can be weaponized in a culture of entitlement.
