The CinePearl Take
John Neville’s charismatic turn as the larger‑than‑life Baron anchors the film’s wildest set pieces, delivering a performance that is both roguishly charming and poignantly earnest. Gilliam’s pacing swings between frenetic chase sequences and languid, dream‑like tableaux, a rhythm that mirrors the Baron’s own storytelling style. The movie’s central theme— the power of narrative to reshape the world— feels especially resonant in an age of endless streaming content. While the production’s ambition sometimes outpaces its narrative cohesion, the sheer visual inventiveness makes it a memorable, if uneven, cinematic adventure.
